Marie-Louise Jones is a British artist living and working in East London. Her work has been internationally exhibited and past projects include recent a commissioning of work for national charity Women’s Aid and production of several artworks in Barcelona for International Women’s Day 2012.
Marie-Louise’s practice involves using personal, disregarded, found and collected objects that function symbolically. By transforming, rearranging and reconstructing objects she creates new and open ended narratives for the viewer’s own interpretation. Presented in a variety of media her work includes, sculpture, assemblage, installation, collage and drawing. Working often, but not exclusively, with human hair, she explores themes relating to social construction, female identity, sexuality, the internal processing of ideas surrounding fear, abandonment, inner conflict and instinctive drives.
