George Grekas studied Fine Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts and Graphic Design at Vakalo School of Art and Design (Athens).

His work has been awarded and exhibited in many galleries in Athens, Thessaloniki, Prague and London.

His previous work was mainly related to engraving inspired by the caricature forms of Goya, and lately has been engaged with painting and illustrations. His oeuvre, based on surrealistic forms, is an imaginative artefact of still images or active binary elements in bare, impersonal spaces. Movement is implied as a preliminary motive for reconstructing a new life out of memories, more real than real, because it is chosen.

In his late work he uses mix media technics, carbon painting mixed with soy sauce, coloured paintings combining oil, coloured pencils and graphite.

George Grekas has also curated many exhibitions in Athens, Greece. See more at http://www.myspace.com/theartofgeorgiogrekas/photos

He currently lives and works in London.
